Rock Harvester- Buisiness End by Frenotx Rock Harvester- Buisiness End by Frenotx
[ A N I M A T I O N - C L I C K D O W N L O A D ! ]
This is a WIP of the front end of my newest project. I will add gears and chains and stuff later on. Also, the machine will be steam powered, so there is going to big a big boiler, pistons, fly wheels, and a bunch of tubes. The machine is meant to run in time with "Farewell Ride", by Beck [link] It's a little off, but still pretty close. (make sure you tell your media player to loop)

You should dry watching it with this music in the background:

That song was my original inspiration to make this thing.

Looks very nice indeed. I like the model and the animation is very smooth. The only thing that seems a little odd to me is that the large piece going up and down seems to not really have anything pushing or pulling it down and the force it seems to be aniamted at. I dunno if this is sometihng that will be changed when details are added but I thought I would just point it out :P Looking great though for sure.

The large hammer is powered be the smaller of the two wheels in the back. I know it is strange to have a little wheel driving a giant hammer, but it is the only way that I could get the motion that I wanted. I will be adding chains and gears which will connect all of the various spinning parts together.

-high poly rendering with skylights makes my processor very sad...

Great work, a super smooth animation. The only thing that really throws me is the picks.
I know that this is only a personal preference and I am not sure mechanically that it would
make any difference at all, but it might. It would seem though that mechanically the most
efficient rotation of the rocker/pivots for the picks would be counter clockwise so that the
power stroke (down) would be getting pushed down by the arm from the top rather than from
behind. Look at the animation in reverse and you'll see what I mean.

It is an awesome animation, you've really done an excellent job!!! The pick comment is
only my personal opinion like I said. Whether or not it would make a mechanical difference
I do not know. Great Work!!!

I know what you mean. That kinda bothered me, too. I left it as i is because if the picks move in the other direction, the down stroke is much slower than the up stroke, Granted it would have more power, but I think it just looked better speeding down instead of up.

Yeah, It doesn't have any materials on it. I am not a big fan of texturing stuff. Did you view the animation?
