Chamfer Those Edges by Frenotx Chamfer Those Edges by Frenotx
I have been asked advice from a few people on modeling, and one thing that I say the most is to chamfer those edges. There is no such thing as a perfect edge in real life, so why should there be any in your model. Notice the difference between the left side (chamfered) and the right side (not chamfered). It helps a lot and it's not that hard to do. In fact, the only time I wouldn't chamfer is if poly count were an issue.
Note: The little marbles were just added to add some interest- I don't like blank space,
Note 2: I will probably move this to scraps eventually as it is not that impressive by itself. I just wanted to get the point across to people that it helps to break up perfect edges.

I always do this with mine as well. Even on my image Othello 3D, although the playing squares look pretty sharp they are actually smoothed,
the reflections, shadow and color changes make them seem much sharper than they are.

It it so obvious to see the need to do this on the plain cube too, my goodness it looks almost flat. Thank you for bringing this to the attention of all beginner, intermediate and advanced modelers as well. Anyone thinking they are too good to be reminded of things like this definitely needs to be reminded of things like this. =D

Good Call!
